Hillock San Dionisio
The official name of Poggio San Dionisio or Dionigio, comes from the fact that the parish church is dedicated to Santo Areopagita. In medieval times has often had the name of Poggio del Priore as a result of its belonging to the Benedictine priory of Valfabbrica, but at the same time was also called Poggio dei Porcelli(pigs), the fact that the Benedictines kept large herds of pigs. Poggio San Dionisio was also told, and still is, Poggio di Valfabbrica belonged until 1929 to the town of Assisi.
With the unification of Italy, Poggio Morico passed to the City of Valfabbrica. From the town center is 2 km, is located in mt.508 above sea level, exposed to every wind, with an open horizon, but very smooth hills and mountains.
Among the places that are well in view: Monte Catria, Monte Pennino, Monte Ingino and fractions of the towns of Gubbio, Perugia and Assisi.
Still the center has obvious signs of fortresses in the walls and the tower civiva. The tradition and the history they want to have been inhabited by the family Baglioni of Perugia. Today the village is offered as a pleasant place to stay and farm.
